Transcendence in the garden

Came across this thesis done several years ago on the transcendental garden … click here.

Essentially, the design principals, according to the paper by Kathryn E. Sonntag, Utah State University, states: “Landscapes that provide for the possibility of the transcendent have been found to incorporate identifiable and vital underlying principles guiding physical attributes and characteristics that foster contemplative beholding, including: the creation of a sense of vastness; the incorporation of archetypal design elements; the minimization of outer stimuli; orientation within a larger order; and the harmonious integration of spatial qualities.”

Love it!
